This portion of coastis formed by a verdant peninsula covered by a massive grove of pines, it is in sharp contrast with the rest of the zone because it has not been affected by the development of the tourism and the consequent massive and urbanization.
On the other side of the coin, the negative aspect of this uncontaminated area is that any type of public transport arrives there and the only way to reach it, is on board of a private mean: a car, a bicycle or on a bike.
The road that leads to Cap de Cala Figuera is very easy to follow and well reported, even though sometimes we can confuse: the route starts from the western part of Magaluf, where the highway incorporates the provincial road C719.
After about a kilometre and a half, you get to a fork that on the right brings you towards Santa Ponca. In the south of this crossing, the road grafts in a small street in the country that passes through the pines forest. After about 4 kilometres, a turning point leads to Cala Mago, also known (and perhaps reported) with the Castilian name of Playa El Mago.
Here we find the first beaches, some beautiful little bays that surround the small rocky promontory that stretches out on the sea.
Once you are arrived here it is good to have a rest; the choice is between the small nudist beach on the right of the promontory, where there is also a nice café/restaurant otherwise, you can decide for the charming beach on the left, protected by the large shadows of the pines; here, there is also a well equipped bar on the beach and there is also a tiny little port.
Booth the beaches are equipped with beach umbrellas and cots for the sun, in addition to provide for comfortable showers.
After Cala Mago, continuing for about 600 meters, there is another secondary street, about a kilometre long, that takes you until the small bay of Portals Vells.
The small gulf is occupied by an amazing and pleasant beach made of fine golden sand, dotted here and there by the sharpened rocks and washed by a crystal clear sea and wonderful dark blue waters.
Near the beach is situated a discreet bar/restaurant and some summer cottages, which do not ruin the natural scenery and the quiet atmosphere of the area. However, if we really want to enjoy the beauty and the poetry offered by the landscape of this charming little bay, it is suggested to go to the beach in the early morning hours, before it gets very crowded.
From this charming beach are also visible, towards the southern part of the gulf, beautiful caves that are on the basis of the promontory and that you can reach through small trails only on foot.
Towards the crossing near Portals Vells there is another avenue that continues in the south direction for about a kilometre and a half and it arrives to a ramshackle barbed wire fence that delimits an old military zone now abandoned.
To mark this dour rusty fence there is a showy sign with the written “No Entry” but many people violete the prohibition of entry and, once left the machine or any other means you can climb over the fence and walk through the pine forest that runs along the promontory for about a kilometre and a half until you reach the Cap de Cala Figuera lighthouse: from this quiet and lonely place yo can admire the most beautiful Mallorca views.
