CALA MILLOR

Cala Millor is on a coast side that boasts marvellous beaches, in particular those in front of the Cala Millor village, a wonderful gold beach strech 2 km long and dotted here and there by old pine forests that once occupied the area.
The beauty of this bay is the main reason that pushed the wild and brainless urbanization growth of the area: all this island portion in fact, there are many tourist locations, very modern and monumental, that include the villas complex of Costa des Pins until you arrive to Cala Bona and Cala Millor.
We can say that here the urban development has been frenetic and sudden and without taking care of the natural landscape and of the majority of the coast: in fact, everywhere there are summer flats, high glass hotels, residencial centres and residences, villas complexes that cover most of the coast and born because of the tourist needs and the attractive beach.
The situation is not gettig better, it even gets worse, especially if you move towards the promontory that follows the Cala Millor beach which is occupied by a major number of tourist structures: we are talking about the Sa Coma and S’Illot locations, where the landscape is dominated by cement and glass structures that are a true shame to see; here the luxuriant natural area has completely disappeared because of the urban development.
From here, to get to Porto Cristo, with its mazed beaches and small creeks system, it is suggested to avoid the road that pass through the small towns because it is rather mangy and with a lot of traffic; therefore, you can take the main coastal road, the PM404, that at some point sizes the coast and moves toward the hinterland.
From here the road becomes rather pleasant and charming, as it is surrounded by enchanting vineyards and fields cultivated with white almond trees, a real pleasure to view and for the sense of smell!
After a few kilometres a colourful sparkling poster will welcome you in the pretty town of Porto Cristo.
