Amnesia initially was an outdoors club, retrieved in what up to 30 years ago, was a farm; in the 1970s it became the place of meeting of the hippies of the place, attracted by a music that ranged from progressive rock to reggae to funk.
In the 1980s it was surpassed by the Ku and so the club was forced to reinvent itself, becoming the first Ibiza club: it opened at 5 in the morning with the music played by DJ Alfredo. Already in 1985 Amnesia became the most fashionable disco in the island, with the music of all genres, logically the most request of those years were mostly played.
This spirit of innovation and continuous renewal has assured the club a success that lasts over the years, thanks also to the work of promoters of international fame such as Cream and Sven Vath's Cocoon. But part of the merits of the popularity of the club are also due to its foam parties or to the events organized, among which we do not have to forget the most famous evening gay in Europe: La Troya Asenina.
For these and other reasons, Amnesia is one of the most influentally club musically speaking in Ibiza, responsible for having given extention to the acid English house music and the resulting revolution and development of club.
If you got in the night right, you are in front of an audience of thousands of people that dance in the direction of the DJ workstation, as if it was a concert instead than a disco. The club is also wide: the main room, like a  stock, is almost devoid of furniture, except some banner with the logos of the promoter; here you can dance on a huge floor, suited for techno and hard house evenings. By contrast, the terrace post on the other side of the disco presents a delightful space and it is embellished with lush plants: here you can dance softer and more relaxing music.
