Es Cavallet is a wonderful strip of beach that extends for about a kilometre on the coast.
This beach was officially named as the first nudist beach of Ibiza in 1978, but this happened after very long and senseless struggles against the nudism of the Civil Guard that, under the command of Franco, for years arrested unnecessarily the hippies that claimed the right to naturism.
The beach is now divided, but only theoretically, in two distinct zones: the north part, near the restaurant, the Escollera, is frequented mostly by families and couples; this portion of the beach also has the comfort of having a large car park, just next to the restaurant.
The nicest and most organized area is certainly the south part, populated almost exclusively by the gay communities who are spending their holidays on the island; a famous meeting point is the wonderful bar-cafe Chiringay, which has become an institution |
