Formentera

This small corner of paradise can be considered the exact opposite of its "older sister" Ibiza: it is indeed always a quiet place, extraneous to the delirious rythms and to the excesses of the other closer islands.
Furthermore, its aspect is in complete contrast with Ibiza: the jagged coastal sink in the sea and the green and mountainous hinterland, is here replaced by a territory rather flat, formed by two plateaus connected by a thin central isthmus; in this flat and quiet land inhabit a population of just 7000 inhabitants.
But it is this precisely aspect of Formentera, its being foreign to the chaotic rhythms that now characterize the life of all (also on vacation), that attract the majority of the  visitors of the island, who love its being a secluded corner of the world which boasts the whitest, largest and cleanest beaches of Spain (...and especially the less crowded!), surrounded by a sea absolutely exceptional.
The island it is remained fairly uncontaminated: industrial development and urbanisation have largely been checked and in all Formentera you can find only a single tourist station, Es Pujols.
This holiday place is rather small, simple, but it rises near the best beaches of Formentera.
While exploring the hinterland, we have a spectacular landscape, even if certainly less verdant than the other Balearic Islands.
The countryside, flourishing and Mediterranean, offers us a wonderful view of the golden wheat fields, grape-vine, beautiful carob trees and figs, all covered and divided by nice dry walls.
