Formentera Beaches

Platja des Canyers and Platja de sa Roqueta

These two small adjacent bays, Platja des Canyers and Platja de sa Roqueta, are at one kilometre north of Ca Na Costa, a small archaeological site that represents the first human presence on the island of Formentera; Ca Na Costa is a megalithic tomb formed by a series of plates of limestone high up to 2 meters, placed in a circle, positioned vertically and surrounded by smaller concentric circles of boulders.
This composition is near a tombstone where were found the skeletons of two women and eight men, in addition to a series of tools derived from small stones and a series of pottery fragments that indicate the existence of a trade between Formentera and Majorca, already in a primitive time.
However, returning back to the nearby sandy bays, these are not among the most famous of Formentera: in fact they do not have a particularly relevant and charming scenario, but certainly you can find an extremely quiet, clean sea and shallow waters, ideal for long and relaxing swims.
Then, on the two beaches, it can also be possible to enjoy the comfort of some kiosks full of snack and fresh drinks and these are the only refreshment points of the zone.
To reach this secluded corner of the island, just go to the north of the winding road that flanks the eastern coast and turn to the right turn, reported by road directions, until you arrive to the small bays of Platja des Canyers and Platja de sa Roqueta.

Platja des Canyers and Platja de sa Roqueta (Take La Savina bus: from May to October 7 journeys a day. The journey lasts 10 minutes.)
