Cala Saona, slightly south of Sant Francesc Xavier, is one of the most crowded beaches of Formentera, especially in the hot summer months.
This vast beach is located in a fabulous gulf wet from clear turquoise waters and the bay, characterized by a fine white sand, extends for 100 metres from the coast inwards until the only construction present on all the coast: the big Hotel Cala Saona...
Es Pujols is 2 kilometers north of Sant Ferran and it is the only Formentera tourist centre specifically built to welcome the great mass of vacationers in summer; for the rest of its territory, the island it has remained fairly uncontaminated and alien to the commercial urbanisation, so that makes the place a quiet alternative to the highly overcrowded close islands, openly more inclined to develop the industry of the tourism...
These two small adjacent bays, Platja des Canyers and Platja de sa Roqueta, are at one kilometre north of Ca Na Costa, a small archaeological site that represents the first human presence on the island of Formentera; Ca Na Costa is a megalithic tomb formed by a series of plates of limestone high up to 2 meters, placed in a circle, positioned vertically and surrounded by smaller concentric circles of boulders.
This composition is near a tombstone where were found the skeletons of two women and eight men, in addition to a series of tools derived from small stones...
Trucador Peninsula: the Trucador peninsula is a very thin tongue of flat and sandy land that extends from the north of Espalmador until the Espalmador island.
This strip of land is part of the Ses Salines natural park and it is certainly a part of Formentera that you cannot miss to visit: this strip of sandy coast is occupied for mostly of its length by wonderful beaches, perhaps the most beautiful of the Balearic Islands, bathed by beautiful, clear and shallow waters...
This unforgettable beach form the eastern portion of the Trucador peninsula. The place, a strip of fine white sand, it was rather uncontaminated, without a particular tourist development: this is what makes the place quite exceptional.
The only sign of "urbanization", if we can say so, it is the popular "Tango", a good restaurant near the seaside...
Platja Illetes: this is a tiny beach located in the north of the Trucador peninsula, continuing on the path that, from Platja Llevant, ends up in a huge parking lot that during the summer months it is always full of scooters and bicycles.
In front of this very, very thin piece of coast, slightly off, there are two islets that give the name to the Platja Illetes beach: Pouet and Rodona...
Other beaches on the Trucador peninsula: from Platja Illetes it is possible to continue on foot to the final part of the peninsula: here there are the most beautiful beaches of the whole Formentera characterized by a blinding white sand and surprisingly thin. This very, very thin strip of land, just 30 metres wide, is wet by limpid and turquoise waters, which literally surrounds this tongue of land, that it is hardly populated by the mass of summer tourists.
This wonderful dunes island and charcterized by sandstone rocks, is especially famous for the wonderful S'Alga beach, an arch of fine sand wet from the crystal clear and sparkling sea, with shallow water.
During the summer months its beaches are full of tourists, many of which are part of a one day travel organized from Ibiza, with La Savina as destination: Espalmador, a predetermined stage of this journey, is a favourite destination by the Ibiza tourists....
Platja de Migjorn, which literally means "the midday beach", is an amazing beach of fine golden sand that extends to all of the southern coast of the central Formentera strip; this wonderful portion of coast stretches for about six kilometers and competes with the beaches of the Trucador peninsula for the title of the most beautiful beaches of all Formentera
The small ES Calo' de Sant Agusti bay is in the north coast around a small rocky niche, 2 kilometers east of Castell Roma', a huge Roman fortress.
Since the Romans time, this tiny bay has served as a fishing port of the nearby La Mola, it used to protect the reefs and overlook this bay formed by a semicircular and rocky bay, where throughout its length it is characterized by the fishermen huts
Mar i Land (which can be pronounced ad Maryland) is situated east of the extremity Platja de Migjorn beach, precisely near the Km 13 on the highway.
In this coastal area have arisen two huge hotel complexes, precisely on the side of the coast and they are the only sign of urban development of this part of the island (in addition to the hotels that are located on the second point of the Platja de Migjorn beach).
